Hubby working in Ct. and going to Syracuse, New york, how soon does the real cold set in?

It can snow in October, but usually that's just flurries, and they melt when they hit the still-warm ground. Around Halloween is when you can start to get an accumulation.

Don't worry too much...Syracuse has the best snow plow force! But, if you're not good in winter driving (like me), try to live close to a supermarket or convenience store/pharmacy so you don't have to drive. If you're coming along and staying long-term, consider living near a bus route that takes you downtown, or living downtown, so you don't need to drive to work.

Dressing in layers is great protection from the cold. But, you shouldn't feel any bitterly cold temps until after New Year's Day. Just make sure whatever outerwear you choose is waterproof.

Well i live in canada Ontario to be more specfic. Snow usually flies around Halloween but real cold will set in mid to late Novemeber.

It can snow any time in Ohio but the real cold will start the last of NOV. if were lucky

Many times we get snow on Halloween. Tonight it's going to be in the 30S.
