You need to be patient, he will eat them when he is ready. Don't rush him. Breast milk should give him all the nutrition he needs for now. Also introduce one thing at a time, they suggest rice cereal. Mix it with breast milk and make it very runny. He will probably spit it out at first. Just try a little bit each day, he will get a hang of it. You shouldn't give him juice until he is seven or eight months old, it might be upsetting his sensitive tummy. After he gets to rice down, try oatmeal next. Then slowly introduce his veggies, then fruit. Wait a about a week between each new food in case he has allergies to them. just be patient with him.

oh my gosh! I can't believe I just came across this question because I am going through the same thing. My baby is 6 months old and every time I try to feed her baby food she clamps her mouth shut. If, on the other hand, I hold a sandwich or popsicle or a slice of pizza by her mouth, she opens wide!

What I have been doing is to continue offering her baby food every day. This week, though, I took a third of a real banana and just mashed it up real good in a little bowl and she LOVED it. I did that for a couple of meals (I even mixed in a bit of rice cereal and she liked it.) I've also let her try biter biscuits, which she loves as well. She also likes when I pump breast milk and mix it with the rice cereal, but it's such a pain to pump.

I think I'm going to look into making my own baby food at home and see if she likes it better.

Good luck with your baby! I'll be checking your question to see if you get any helpful answers.

keep offering him the foods, only don't keep switching them on him. You're only confusing him. The reasons he seems to not like what is offered is because it has a different texture than breast milk, and he isn't used to it. Start him off with one or two items and after a few weeks introduce another couple of foods and so on. No wonder he won't eat you don't let him have a chance to know whether he likes the food or not.

Have you tried taking some of your breast milk and mixing it with the rice in the baby food aisle. Also, try stage 1 baby fruits, most kids love them because of the sweetness. If all else fails talk to your pediatrician about it at you next well visit. They should be bale to give you some insight.

He will let you know when he's ready! Do not give him fresh fruits or veggies unless cooked at a high temp. It can result in "Infant Botulism"Raw honey is a no no too! My daughter was close to dying of infant botulism. we were dipping her pacifier in honey so she'd keep it in her mouth! When it concerns your baby's health or well being. keep in mind that while people mean well and hope to be helpful, but every baby is different with different digestive systems and it is best to ask your doctor's advice since he/ she has known your baby from the beginning!

have you ever tasted some of that baby food?? I can't blame the baby for not wanting to eat! if you are still nursing and he is still gaining weight don't worry about it until the doctor says it is a problem.

Just keep trying. He won't still be on breast milk when he's 10, just remember that.

Patience patience patience... try one new food a day for a couple of days ( like applesauce for 2 -3 days) and see how that goes.. then add another new one while keeping the applesauce in your daily repertoire...
Good luck!!!!

He does not need food yet, try once every week until he is ready. Do not force him.
