Have you ever given what you thought of as sexy clothes to someone for a gift? Is that appropriate? And what did you give? I need advice. Thanks.

Sure why not? Why would you be uptight about giving a sexy gift to someone. Come on girl friend loosen up. My girl friends and I always give each other sexy fun lingerie as gifts, or tops, stockings, et we embrace our hot sexy selves. If you got it flaunt it! Girl friends should share and help each other look hot. Also if a man likes you in sexy lingerie it is much nicer if he buys it.

Yes, I have given sexy clothing as a gift.
Twice it was nice lingerie at a bridal shower where the theme of the party was a lingerie party. And once as a gag gift, I gave tacky lingerie to my sister-in-law.
The appropriateness depends on who the recipient is, and what you are giving.
If the female is younger than 18, then stay away from anything over the top. Whether or not she likes it won't matter when her parents see the gift. Chances are that they will either throw it out, or forbid her from wearing it. In extreme cases, you won't be a welcome friend at their house anymore.
If she's over 18, then take into consideration if she is a wild sort of girl, or if she's more conservative. If you know that she'll wear what you buy, like a mini skirt, then go ahead. If you know that she doesn't have things like that already, then leave it at the store. Don't try to change someone's style with a gift.
If it's for a guy, make sure that you two are at a level where you are comfortable with each other. You should both be of legal age, and already have a fairly intimate relationship. If it's just at the dating phase, and there has been no commitment, then don't try to get him into a pair of bikini briefs.
Just use your best judgment when selecting a gift. Is the person open, or more reserved? Are they demure or sexy in their normal clothing style? Will they wear it if it's a serious gift? Will they laugh if it's a gag gift? If you can't answer these questions, then find a safer gift, like a card and gift certificate.

Sexy clothing is not an appropriate gift unless it is to your significant other. These gifts can be very embarrasing to the receiver and you don't want that. I was at a work function and someone gave a co-worker a pair of thongs, she was VERY embarrassed, and it made him look like and IDIOT.

I would only give my boyfriend sexy clothing as a gift. And it would be MY sexy clothing.

You have to be prepared for the gift to be put away and never worn. What you consider sexy might be viewed as sheer embarassement by another.

It absolutely depends on who the friend is and what the basis of the relationship is. If this is meant to spark the relationship into a new or different broadened horizon/direction (with this as a hint-hint) this could be a very interesting way to do it!
