IMHO - HP can make a better-equipped machine at a lower price. Unfortunately, they're not very durable and start to break down more quickly. Cheap price, cheap quality. Dells cost significantly more for the same hardware and software but they last longer. You get what you pay for. Do you want durability or cheap? You could split the difference and get a Gateway. Costs less than a Dell but lasts longer than an HP.

NO. HP is NOT better than Dell. Dell sells systems that are completely check for problems, so when the computer arrives, it is ready to use. Building a computer is not easy. I just built one last week and I have all sorts of problems. The ram is defective so I had to RMA(return or exchange) it. When you build your own computer it is better because you get to choose your parts, but it comes with the risk of hardware/software issues. But if you must choose from a Dell or HP, I would say go with a Dell.

HP is a better quality computer than Dell. Also, HP is a better personal computer and seems more durable.

I am not sure about price levels, but I think the HP may be a little cheaper.

PS: The best quality computer of all: Sony (VAIO)

I wouldn't buy either one, build one yourself is the better answer. If was forced to I would buy one or the other I would buy from Dell, there tech support is horrible and there all sitting in India and can't understand English. So I hope this helps a little. Mac would be a better buy.

Both are Chinese now. I've had 3 Dells. Besides, you can actually build item by item your own PC on their website. just the way you want it.

I'd go for Dell.

Except for the monitor, Get an LG. I have a Flatron L2010B. Excellent.

Depends entirely on the specs of the computer.

A better bet would be to buy parts seperately and build the computer yourself. You'll end up with a much better computer for a much lower price. Dont be put off by the thought it is complicated... its most certainly not.

I would say dell but I don't like intel like the old saying you get what you pay for. hp likes to use low end stuff to bring the cost down go figure

To easy the better computer is an HP it is so much more reliable andit cost so much less but if you want a really good computer i would buy a mac because they are faster easier to use and setup. Also, they don't get viruses every 2 seconds.

Before their Compaq acquisition I would have said HP. But since then I wouldn't buy either.
