I love 'Ruby Woo' by MAC! It's like that perfect retro-glam red.

There is no real universal best red for everyone. Unfortunately a red shade that looks good on me, or Paris may look very unfortunate on you. Go to your local department store and ask a make-up artist what shade of red would best suit you.
I have had really good luck with Lancome lipsticks.

NARS Dolce Vita is a good one that works on most skin tones...reds can be really tricky so I would try before you buy! Chanel Rouge Allure has a great selection of reds also, I wear Brilliant but I'm a redhead.
If you want a stain, try Vincent Longo's Lip & Cheek Gel Stain in either Liquid Kiss (cooler) or Cupid's Breath (warmer).

Depends up on whether you are fair or dark, blonde or brunette, etc. No one red suits everyone. There are orange reds, blue reds and true reds. All make up lines make a variety of them, so it won't be hard to find one to suit you. Go to a good department store and talk to a sales assistant who can help you choose the best one for you. I like Chanel's Allure, and many other lines carry great colours. I also have Benefit's Bachelor Pad, which is a great true red. Try some for yourself.

Myself, I don't wear lipsticks anymore. Here are my suggestions:
- Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Relish of Berries
- Dior Addict Plastic Gloss in Electrifying Red
- LORAC Lotsa Lip Plumping Lip Gloss in Naughty
- Urban Decay XXX Shine Lip Gloss in Guys Love Betsy
- Stila Lip Rouge in Pucker
- LORAC Sheer Wash in Sheer Emotion
- Urban Decay Lip Envy in Envious
Lipstains and Lip glosses are more timely. They give shine and a wash of color without looking cakey or feathering.

Try department store makeup brands like M.A.C. for intense color, Biotherm for moisture, Chanel for smoothness, Dior for shine. Berry reds are very in right now for dark haired people.

Mary Kay's "SALSA RED" is terrific! So is "RUBY SKY" but that was a limited edition so I don't know if you can still get it. Then, for a different look, I sometimes put the Mary Kay "TIGER LILY" lip gloss over them.
