OK. I HAVE TWO COMPUTERS, ONE IS ABOUT 5-6 YRS OLD, MAYBE OLDER, MY OTHER COMPUTER IS BRAND NEW. ANYWAY, WHILE TRYING TO COPY A FILE FROM ONE COMPUTER TO THE OTHER(VIA A FLOPPY DISK), I DISCOVERED THAT MY NEW COMPUTER HAS NO DRIVE FOR THE FLOPPY DISK. I REALLY WANT THOSE FILES TO BE ON MY NEWER COMPUTER. I THINK YOU CAN COPY FILES VIA A CD-ROM, BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT. ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS/ANSWERS FOR ME? I'D BE EXTREMELY HAPPY. AND NO, ITS NOT PORN!

Do you have a digital camera or MP3 player? Either can be used as a temporary storage device provided both computers have a USB port. My daughter used her camera this way to resurrect a computer just a short time ago!

I have heard that the new computers do not have a floppy drive. I think it probably has a place for one and they are really not very expensive.
Another thing you can do is buy a flash drive. If your old pc has a usb port then you can copy all your files to that and then copy them from that into your new pc.
The only other suggestion would be to have a pc repairman take out the hard drive in your old pc and install it in your new one. I think there is a place for at least two drives. I have my old drive in my new pc and it's almost 3 years old. When you don't need it anymore you can reformat it and just use it for saving document files.
Hope that helps.

First of all, find your Caps Lock key, and press it once.
You didn't mention what version of Windows is on your old computer. In you have XP and a CD/RW you can simply drag and drop files to your optical drive, insert a blank cd, right click the drive and select the option to burn the files to disc.
Failing that, you could remove the HD from your old computer, set its jumper to Slave mode, and install it as a secondary HD in your new computer giving you access to the entire drive.

you could network the two computers together (either via a router & two ethernet cables,or a wireless connection between the two, or a crossover cable from one PC's ethernet port to the other) - set up a simple network, copy the necessary files & then recycle the old PC

If the files are small enough, email them to yourself as attachments and get your email on the new computer and save the attachments.

If both systems have XP, you can by a transfer cable and hook both computers to each other. Then you can use the file transfer wizard to move your files.
