The color of lightening is determined by atmospheric conditions and time of day. They act kind of like putting a colored plastic filter over a flashlight that changes the color you see. Sunrise and sunset are both filled with colors. If lightening hits early in the morning or late at in the evening it can have a color other than the bright white or yellow that is common. Also, if the pollutant level in the air is high it can cause a change in the color of lightening.

I would have to know if it was at night or during the day. Was it an actual lightening bolt or just the flash? Not enough information to answer.
