Hello everyone,

My new laptop cannot be shut off it only can hibernate. I'm not sure if this is normal or how can I go around this to get this fix. Thanks in advanced.

Hibernate is the best thing for a laptop. Everything is saved to disk and then the power is turned off. When starting up the computer just reloads what was saved.

A complete power off requires that the computer reload the entire system which will take about 5 times longer.

In either case the power is OFF.

In sleep mode the power is on in a low power mode. Everything remains in storage.

To restart or turn off power completely go to start/turn off computer. To change the default when closing the case check the power options control panel.

It it won't shut off on its own, then you can force it to shut down by holding down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds.

Go to "start" "shutdown."

If that doesn't work then just close the top. I'm sure it will go off by itself when it is closed.

Good Luck
