It seemed after the demise of the Black and White Minstrel Show that white performers pretending to be blacks was over. But Charlotte Church was made up as a black man on her TV show, David Walliams does it on 'Little Britain', and The Independent newspaper idiotically illustrated a special feature on Africa by getting Kate Moss to 'black up' instead of hiring an African model. Is this suddenly okay again, or is it still in bad taste?

You're right in the latter part of your sentence.
It is bad taste and hence why there are such mediums like BET and MUCH VIBE that relay Balck American's pride in their apperance and culture, becuase for so many centuries, even before the Slave Trade began, Blacks have been told that they are the embodiment of all that is bad.

In Black face this was portrayed where White men and women would make a cariciature of Black features and movements as comical and stupid.

I'm surprised and saddened, this is a portrayal of people that I thought was long gone, a kind of demeaning entertainment that my White friends wouldn;t understand.

My what a joke of a world we live in, we perpetuate that racism is a thing of the past and long gone, but occasionally it shows itself time and again.

SHould Blacks start doing the cake walk in a response to Black face again...sheesh!

Personally, I think it's still bad taste. But a big reason for outlawing blackface in the first place was so that black actors would have a better shot at getting black roles, instead of just rubbing some burnt cork on ol' Whitey.

Depends on the circumstances, I guess. But in my opinion, still not cool.

It was never "acceptable" to anyone who had good taste and common sense.
