Does this sound something like East and West Germany, or am I being obtuse. The Mexican President is furious - so I guess the next war that Bush will be responsible for will be on his own turf.

Well fathead - pretty soon Bush will have isolated you Americans. His government is forcing the issue re passcards and passports for Canadians, even though our Prime Minister has warned that this will have a tremendous economic effect on both sides of the border. I have my passport, but I will never use it to cross the 49th parallel. God Bless Canada.

Yes, Germany was one country before the wall, but it became 2 after the wall went up, so it's all in the timing. I know. I was there. East Germany became your Mexico.

It makes me sick.

Setting the powerless against the powerless, and doing "something" (even if the wrong thing) are time-honored ways of distracting people.

No, it isn't like East and West Germany, as they were Germany (a single country) before being split; the US and Mexico aren't the same country.

No, it isn't likely that Mexico could wage war on the U.S. We're just way too much more powerful and huge.

There's really nothing anyone can do as long as the morons in control remain in control.

ERUDITE, have you had a sex change? Or just a haircut will change ones appearance, too.

I love the idea of the fence, I sure hope it is equipped with motion sensors and lots of electricity! It's about time those do nothings in Washington got off their dead @sses and made a decision.

As far as Mexico and it's new president not liking the fence idea, maybe he would prefer "shoot on sight" as an alternative. It certainly would be cheaper than a 700 mile fence.

If Mexico's approach to international diplomacy is his outrage about the fence on US land, than he has something to learn about the right's of a country that has been bombarded by criminals from his country. They became criminals when they crossed our border without proper documents or approval.

It will be a long four or six years for this new Mexican administration if it's agenda is to fight this immigration issue. The one thing that raises the ire of the American people is for some foreigner to attempt to dictate terms of immigration. The only thing he will accomplish is increasing the resolve of the American people to rid it's country of illegal aliens.

Well, I think it's kind of silly, but whatever. No, it is totally different than dividing a country into East and West Germany. I'm glad the Mexican President is furious. Too bad he isn't more furious that things are so bad in his country that millions of his people have to sneak across the border each year and risk horrible conditions once they get here that are actually better than what they left. He and other Mexican politicians should be ashamed.

This is nothing like east and west germany. We are 2 seperate countries. The people from mexico come here to leech off the US government. They committ crimes and don't pay taxes.

There are far and few inbetween that actually come to american and live life as an american. They claim to come here to be american but in the end it all boils down to leeching off all our goverment programs and sending money back home.

Screw them. Build the fence and install sentry systems every couple miles. That should fix it!

The fence system they are planning on implementing is very good but they will also need to up the guards and such to make sure they dont bypass the system.

Number one, it's not long enough... it should be about 3 times longer. The Berlin wall was built to keep people in... so, yes, you are obtuse... or more correctly, just plain wrong. I could care less what that loser president of Mexico feels... If y'all didn't have such a corrupt country you wouldn't be trying to break into mine all the time. And if y'all want a war, "Bring it on!".... otherwise stay home in your POS Brand-X country.

Fixed emplacements like that can be bypassed. The French thought the Maginot Line would stop Hitler in WWll, he made an end run and kicked their butts.

Build holding facilities, hire more patrol officers, and begin serious enforcement and deportation.

That is the only way to deal with illegal immigration.

Ask yourself, what would another foreign country do if they found you in their country illegally??

the Mexican president is furious...Why ?Because the more illegals he has in the USA the more money he gets back to mexico..These illegals are feeding their poor families in Mexico......Mexico has a corrupt government...
and has a parasitical relationship with the USA > the mexicans are hard working people...They need to eat .....the boarder fence is long overdueand also keeps out other undesireables.
These illegals are draining our medical funds in Texas, Arizona , and New mexico.......no body wins ......

Not long enought, it needs to strech from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific, 100 feet high, 15 feet thick with gun turrets every 25 meters.

Oh, there is no question about you being obtuse.

A war with Mexico? RIght.

Next we need the same wall between the US and Canada.
