Yes, I was walking along the edge of the crowded platform of a London Underground station and knew the train was coming, but didn't know how close it was. It grazed my arm so hard and fast I was worried it would break my arm or rip it off. There was nothing more than damage to my muscle and watch, but the shock was so great that 30 seconds later I fell straight backwards, unconscious. I'm 6'4" so it was a long way down and that did more damage than the train. I was more confused than embarassed when I woke up. My wife said onlookers didn't really seem to care - that's the big city for you.

Well I have an almost story LOL and yes I was quite embarrassed. I am on a paint crew with two guys in the 50's I am 21. We had worked 9 hrs that day with only a half hour break for lunch and we were working extremely harder than usual and we are usually very hard workers as it is. Anyway we were masking walls that went up two and a half stories so that we could spray the ceilings and I just about fell off the extention ladder. I probably would have died if I had too and luckily I didn't but I was exausted and then I realyzed what had almost happened and I was very scared. Anyway almost!

I've fainted in public three times before. Once was in church when I was a kid, and there was no scene or anything so it wasn't really embarrassing; I just remember coming around and some kid was staring at me and I couldn't understand why he was staring - at the grand old age of 7, I was already accustomed to fainting in private :-).
Another time I was about 16 and fainted in a supermarket in Hong Kong. That was embarrassing; I came to and all these people were standing over me, obviously thinking I was a drug-addict or something.
The last time I was backpacking by myself in Canada and I arrived at a hostel, and then fainted in the lobby. It wasn't really embarrassing as no-one was really paying attention. The up-side was that I got a super-hot French Canadian guy to pick me up and then carry my bags to my room :-).

Yeah, when I was in my late teens and smoking a lot of dope, I began passing out quite frequently, at parties, on night buses, on the tube, and after a few times I learned to recognise the signs, like I'd feel this buzzing and tingling and everything would go dark, so then I started to take proactive measures, I'd loudly and clearly declare "I need some space, I am going to lie down on the floor for a little while", then I'd do that and wake up a few seconds later after a really brilliant visiony dream with people either freaked out and nowhere near me (on night buses and tube trains) or crowded around all concerned (at parties). I was never embarrassed and it never occurred to me to stop getting so wasted. Thankfully it was a phase and it passed, though these days I just stick to booze and the odd biscuit.

unfortunately, yes. it happened a couple of times. the first was when i was 9 years old and had choir practice outside in 85 degree weather. i just remember feeling funny and waking up with all my friends staring at my from above while i was on the ground.
the second one happened in college. this happened because i had such horrible cramps from my period that i just passed out and even had a mini-seizure. the prof called the squad and i ended up in the ER. it was a little embarassing when i came back to class the next day, but most of the students were pretty nice and didn't comment much about the incident.
the second time was again in a hot temperature environment...

Yes, I have..I fainted in a bar with my hubby with me. We had gone there on halloween night and we walked in, went up to the bar and I noticed immediately that it was hot in there. We got a shot, drank it, and decided there wasnt anywhere to sit, so we bagan to make our way back to the door.
As we're walking thru ppl, Im holding onto the back of my hubbys jacket, and I was feeling weird. I saw someone he knew and I knew he was gonna stop and talk, sure enough he did, and I was standing there still holding onto his jacket. I all of a sudden began to fall and he turned around just in time and caught me.
When I came to, the owner had me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and all I could see was all these scarey faces/masks that ppl were wearing. I had no idea what had just happened. I dont know why the owner had me over his shoulder, but hubby said he ran over and just took over.
Funny to think about now.....and yea, I was embarrassed.

Fainted at my first ever gig - The Farm (yes, I know its slightly embarrasing!) - at The Glasgow Barrowlands. We werer at the back & yet somehow, possibly the heat, I remember my mate Scott huckling me down the stairs to get some air. Didn't think I'd bother with gigs but seen plenty since with no medical accidents!!!

not in public, but in my one nursing school rotation, I was out cold! I was in the operating room watching a hip replacement, and the next thing I know I was in the hall and my teacher was using smelling salts on me. That was mortifying. I wasn't allowed back into the OR. Luckily I didn't de-sterilize anything when I fell to the floor.
