Red eared sliders like meat. Not vegetables. Or there is a special red eared slider food you can buy at the pet store. If you dont want to buy it from the pet store, try cooked chicken. I'm sure your turtle will love it! I am not sure where to buy the vitamins but try your pet store. Good luck!

Red eared sliders like land and water. Simple tank set up would be water surrounding a large brick. Make sure there is a water filter. They eat small feeder fish and dry turtle food that you sprinkle in the water. I don't know where you live but Petco and Petsmart and all those little pet stores are great sources of turtle supplies. We usually get a vitamin rock thing shaped like a turtle. Drop it in the water and it will melt. :/ I don't know how it works. x_x Keeping the tank clean will be your biggest worry. Sliders are very messy eaters.

Q. What Should I Feed My Red Eared Slider?
A. Red eared sliders need a diet that is a mixture of animal and plant material. However, young red eared sliders eat more animal protein so babies are started off on a diet that is more on the carnivorous side. It is still a good idea to offer vegetation to young turtles although they may not really start eating it until they get older (offering it early on at least makes it less likely they will shy away from trying it as they age). For adult red eared sliders, vegetation should make up a significant part of the diet.

Red-eared sliders do indeed like vegetables, as well as meat. I grate up carrots for mine all the time, and I also throw in some washed canteloupe skins which is good for their beaks. Turtles like dark leafy greens such as collard, mustard, or dandelion greens. The also like squash, green beans, raw fruit, edible aquatic plants, live feeder fish, finely chopped raw lean beef, and cooked chicken. And all of these are perfectly healthy for your turtle's diet. Some like insects and blood worms as well. I give mine the dry shrimp pellets each day as well as frozen blood worms from the pet stores. You can purchase the vitamins from most pet stores, and if by chance they don't have it in stock, ask them to order it in. I find the best source for researching turtles is the internet. There are all sorts of sites with valuable information. Good luck.

Info: http://www.redearslider.com and http://www.austinsturtlepage.com
Food: Beginners should stick to a high-quality food pellet, and supplement it with live fish foods from a pet shop- fish, worms, crustaceans, etc.
Vitamins: If you use good foods, you don't really need vitamins but you can get powdered or liquid vitamins to add to the food or water.

Okay this is bad... Chicken is a very rare treat once every 6 months! There diet should be 50% vegies. 25% pellets 25% protein. I am sorry to tell you this your turtles should have 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle a UVb lamp to keep there shell hard. Go to this website and introduce yourself and ask questions and we can help.
