i'm geting a new processor. its going to be amd. should i get amd 64 or athlon x2? i want to be able to play powerfull games on it, and i dont want it to be expensive

Well just make sure if you are using your old motherboard, you get one that is compatible with your motherboard. By that I mean check which CPU socket your motherboard has and make sure to get one that uses that socket. This is of course irrelevant if you're getting a new motherboard, just get one that has the socket the CPU you choose has. Powerful games + not expensive = AMD 64

I have purchase CPU/Motherboard combo at Fry`s and off the Internet. I would recommend the same for you. Also the following would be good: SATA hard-drive, 1 Gig of memory, a video card with 128 or 256 MB video card. Make sure you look on manufacturer website for any conflicts between motherboard and video card.

athlon x2 is more powerful than amd64 i think.
