We can encourage women to lead more stressful lives, drink more alcohol and smoke more. This should reduce their life expectancies and bring them more into line with men. Also, they should be encouraged to participate in more risk-taking behavior (sky-diving, car-racing, etc.) and to enter into more dangerous professions.
(For you humorless sorts, this was meant as a facetious answer. The reasons for differences in male and female life expectancy cannot be legislated away. Nor can the differences between male and female in many other aspects of life.)

The life expectancy of a man is shorter than for a woman; and probably has a lot to do with the stress of working so hard for 40-50 years at some useless job.
I suppose if women did the same thing, they would die younger too, and then we'd have equal life expectancies.
[it doesn't make any sense for a women to be asking for a shorter life, so you must be a man asking this question, am I right?]

I saw a group of men laying paving slabs for the council a while back
None of them were under 50 and a couple were over 60
maybe when you get 60 yr old women doing jobs like that we will have longevity equality.

You can not get gender equality.
Equality is (a STATE of being equal.)
Expectancy is a (STATE of expectation.)
Can you achieve equality is more to the point,
You can not treat woman and men in the same way.
They are two different types of entities.

I don't know where this is coming from. But it seems based on the Leftist idea that any inherent difference means there must be a "redistribution of the wealth" to make us equal. That is a false premise.

Men tend to not live as long partially because they are more likely to engage in risky behaviors as youths, and partially because they are more prone to genetic diseases. If we want their lifespans to be as long as women's, then we need to encourage them to be more careful and less violent and we need to research cures for genetic diseases.
That's the case for developed nations. For underdeveloped nations where women don't live as long as men, it's generally because of poor health care with regard to childbearing. Then, we need to make sure the women have access to health care before, during, and after childbirth.
