Chavez says he will stop the oil supply to the USA if we attack Iran. This constitutes 15% of all US oil imports. Will we be able to survive this? or is the option to attack Venezuela now on the cards?

I do not support Hugo Chavez.

The question about cutting off oil if we attack Iran involves double suppositions.

First US must attack Iran, which is a highly unlikely event at the present time. US is tied down in Iraq and shaky with its allies and its home front politics. Any attack on Iran would almost cetainly require UN support.

Second, The Chavez threat is not likely to be carried out. If it was, The US would survive. The Venezuelan economy and Chavez's political future depend on the sale of oil. As Venezuela is a major supplier of Us oil, so the US is a major customer for that oil. The need for dollar oil sales by Venezuela trumps political threats.

Oil is an international business and flows from supply to demand regardless of the politics of countries. Venezuelan oil must be sold to keep Venezuela afloat and once sold it is on the international market going where demand carries it. During the Arab oil boycott 3 decades ago, oil continued to be sold and the boycotted countries continued to buy it.

Us oil supplies are endangered when war, insurrection or natural disaster cut off oil production, not by political threats.

Oil is critical to US but it would not be necessary to attack Venezuela to maintain adequate supplies. An attack on Venezuela is not in the cards at least for the foreseeable future.

Attack Venezuela first. Just to get them out of our hair.

Then Uzbekistan. The Uzbek have a ton of oil. As soon as Uzbek is democratized We can cross Turkmenistan, then send troops in from Iran and Afghanistan That will give us the same pincer movement on Iran that Patton used on the Germans.

We can accomplished the mission easily.

Why does the United States keep thinking that somehow they have a right to the world's oil. You would seriously think it's ok to attack a sovereign, democratic country because they don't want to sell you THEIR oil? You've got to be kidding? They can sell THEIR oil to whomever they want, just as the US can sell their raw goods to whomever the US wants. The complete lack of respect for the sovereignty of other nations is why the US so disliked throughout the world.

Let Venezuela do that. I guess they are rich enough to take the hit. They will be the big losers not us. We will not be held hostage or black mailed by a third rate f'ing nut job from Venezuela. That cowardly lil ba$tard can go f himself. So I guess the answer to your question would be, No, I do not support the ba$tard. Boycott Citgo

Hugo Chavez knows how to use oil as a bargaining commodity. The US must know how to play with this figure.

Chavez will be overthrown if he goes too far. We might cut him off before he cuts us off. And if he deprives the economic powers that be in Venezuela of their maximum oil profits, he knows he'll be out on his arss soon after.

People don't understand that their oil is high in sulfur and requires a different process to make gas. He is a two bit tin horn dictator wanna be. He wants to be to his country, what Castro is to Cuba

I say, No one buy a drop of gas from Citgo, that puts money in his pocket, so cut off his money, and tell him to drink his own oil. Not that many countries want or can afford to transport his oil to their place. America is the closest thing he has and he don't want to lose it. He has lost his mind so, drive him crazy, don't buy his gas/.
