Seriously...I share your dis-affectation from the mainstream. I too find life absurd. Nearing 58, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up, let alone what I'll do when I get old.
I find that this is when having a sense of humour reveals its real importance - to help make the ridiculous more tolerable.
In my case, I've dropped out of the rat race. I know that the world can get along just fine with one less rat.
One exception is my recurring presence here among the young. It gives me an insight into current thinking and attitudes. And I enjoy that.

People usually say "take life seriously" but in reality if life is always taken seriously then those funny, make me laugh till I cry and my stomach hurts moments are lost. I say if people take life too seriously then stress takes over and lots of other negative things happen. So , If it works for you, then by all means more power to you. I'm pretty sure if the going gets tough you can change into serious mode.
Peace.

Never take life too seriously, you will only end up stressed and miserable, life is for living and for making the most of what you want from it.

Good for you. I'm pleased for you I really am.
Ps. Do you know about the hundreds of people starving in the world.
Do you care about the discrimination our eldery work force face.
Do you realise that when people do not take life/society/world affairs seriously people like GW Bush become president.
But
I am pleased for you.

you must be quite young.
enjoy it
i was about to say wait till you get old but really, don't it'll come anyway.
there's nothing like feeling the years slipping by & knowing you've got less years to come than you've already had to make you feel like there's some serious seriousness to be explored over the coming few minutes, seconds, months, weeks YEARS...

From my understanding of your question, I would try less stressful activities or change your routine...you could end up with Ulcers if you kept stressing.
