anyway, take away her silverware. call her an animal while she eats, and ask if she'd like the silverware back after she's a little embarrassed.

I'm kind of confused by this question, but if your 8 year old was having trouble cutting her meat and you got mad at her because you had to do it, then yes, you were probably a bit hard on her.

Why would you be hard on her if you cut her steak now if you cut her then yes you would be to hard. If my son is dinking around at dinner time then I would so the same thing and tell him to eat or go to bed without dinner.

No. It is proper etiquette to cut your steak but you probably should have let her cut it. In so many words you have to "threaten" her. Say you will take what she loves most away. It works all the time.

i think maybe you was. or i might be wrong, but i still cut my 8 yrs meat of any kind because i don't like the ideal of her with a sharp knife. i think when i do see her cutting something with a knife, i am scared she is going to hurt herself badly.

at 8 if she didn`t cut her steak she wouldn`t be geting any .can she do it on her own? if so then she wouldn`t be geting any
