no many large companies have pre hire agreements for thier protection.

Of course this does not normally protect them if they violate some law. ( a contract can not protect a criminal act)

go here, you will be surprised. from what i read it depends on what is in the contract. there are clauses that have the sole purpose of preventing law suit abuse. but some courts dont approve of them. you should take your contract to a lawyer before you sign it. it seems that some contracts are illigal and others are ok. it just depends on the actual contract and its' wording. only a lawyer could tell you how "harmless" it is.

you can choose to not sign it.....and they can choose to not hire you. Take it to a lawyer. The question is quite vague not knowing the contents of the contract.

It's not illegal for them to ask you to sign it. It is illegal for them not to hire you just because you won't sign it though.

Companies can do almost anything they want unless specifically prohibited in law (like race discrimination). No, it is not illegal.

It is probbubly a arbitration agreement that it will not go to court but if anything was to happen then they would settle out of court with their lawyers.

why would they want you to sign something like that?? are they planning on doing something that you can sue them for?? have you discussed it with any of the employees??

sounds like theyre going to use you!!
