Could be, then again I would have to know the children.
BTW, I caught you comment on me. Perhaps you should look into getting your own supply. Hostile comments aren't necessary and if you check it out my answer was chosen best.
The concept of this forum is to help others, if you don't want to try and answer a question, why take the time out for an insult?
Also it is PROSAC and I believe there more children on RIDILYN than prosac. Now that is alarming. Also, these drugs can lead to weight gaining/obsesity, and that is alarming.
Perhaps, if people cared more and treated less this wouldn't be the case, but; it is so much easier to treat your problems as an ailment than to face them as a question your are afraid to ask about yourself. Depression and anxiety stem from these questions and not vice versa.
Like I said I would have to know the kids. Probability is most of those chidren could be treated with counseling and a little love or compassion and they would adjust on their own. But each case is different. Some children are violent. Others go into hysterics. Those are the ones most likely to have a chemical imbalance. The others may only be having troubles accepting their surroundings and worse yet themselves. That can be taught.

I don,t know the numbers but I do feel that we are a nation that is more apt to put children on medication if they are restless or just are,nt doing what a child should be doing when most of the time i think we are a stressed out adult populous(nation).
Seems the numbers are way to high and seems the willingness of everyone is too much.
Children are not encouraged to be children for very long anymore.
By age three they start their first schooling and its several hour a day of preplanned activities- even in day cares.
Its sad that we as a nation thinks it better to give our children drugs than our time.

Where did you get that idea? There are no children on Prozac. Prozac or any antidepressant causes suicidal thoughts in people under the age of 18 and therefore is not prescribed by doctors for depression in children. Cognitive and behavioral therapy is a better route.

Yes.
It's not the illegal drugs that are the bigger public health problem in the US, it's the legal ones. They are much more widespread & more people suffer from taking the wrong ones or from side effects each year because there are more kinds of drugs in use. Why? Salesman from big pharma companies have big entertainment budgets with one goal - to sell doctors the latest new thing. Also, we do have a pushbutton mentality in the US - drugs fit in very well with this thinking.

Yes...the same thing with ritalin. Parents should just let their children be children...that means soemtimes being hyper and full of energy. If you can't handle that then you don't need to be a parent. I get so tired of parents and teachers saying that "Billie won't sit still and runs around, so he needs ritalin". Ritalin isn't the answer and if a teacher said that my child needed ritalin I'd tell her she needed to find anoother job. parents and teachers eexpect their children to sit completely quiet for 8 hours a day at school and then another 4 hours a day in front of the t.v at home. there is something wtong with this.

YES. We have a large problem in our society of drugging people up whenever they get an owie or feel sad. Drugs don't help in the long run. We need to teach kids to deal with their problems in a positive manner, rather than just feeding them a pill.

Prozac is a dangerous drug and they hand it out like candy.. there is NO quick fix pill.. all pills like that do is fuzz over the user so they don't notice how screwed up the world is.. that's not the answer!..I think it is just one more thing used in the "dumbing" of America..

Should be a criminal offense to put children on drugs. But, what would people who put themselves out as "professionals" in mental health and know absolutely nothing about a child's MIND do otherwise?

I think that all of all children on drugs is a little excessive. We need to go back to wholesome food and good hard work, then our kids would be back to being healthy!
