Last i checked, there were 9 country songs on the billboard top 100. There were however, 15 rap/hip hop songs. Rock, which is diminishing but still strong, held a pretty fair number of spaces with 16 and songs of the pop genre held 12. I forgot how many spaces were held by R&B, Inspirational, or alternative songs. What's even more alarming is that 8 of those 15 rap/ hip hop songs were in the top 40! Is American music losing its variety to a genre that speaks of nothing but sex and violence?!

Like country music is much better...if i generalize the same way you do, all country music talks about is drinking and depressing stuff and being broken up with...(and no, i don't like rap. i just can't stand overgeneralizations)
*now that that's out of my system*

I wish i could say that was the case, but I can't. I'm in west virginia where country and rock music reign supreme....

I can't listen to Rap it is all generic and it is depressing. On the other hand country isn't a good genre for me either. Im rock and always will be. I can be 90 years old listening to my Pink Floyd Albums

heres the thing, music will always change in the top 40, its like clothing styles. sometime one type of music will be dominate the top 40 then it'll change to another type of music. because if you look at the music its always going in a circle country then rock then rap then something else i hope you get what i'm saying

If you were a bit more open-minded, you'd know that not all rap is about sex and violence. There's also political rap, and things like that.
