My period was due 3 days ago and I don't feel like I'm close to starting. I've been like clockwork for years! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 9 months now. My question is: Do you think it's possible to be pregnant, but still show a negative result on a pregnancy test? I know I did it right, I read the directions several times.

I took the first test when I thought I was preggo when my period was 3 days late (I too am like clockwork) it was negative, I waited 2 more says (5days late) got a VERY faint positive. I took an early responce test the next day (6 days late) and got a very clear positive. Its possable you are preggo. Sence you were trying to concieve do you know at what point in your cycle you had sex (example 3 days past ovulation) If you can pin point what day you *think* you concieved go 14 days past that and test on that day. In *most* pregnancys/womans bodys it takes 14 days for the hormone HCG to be strong enough to be picked up on a home pregnancy test. FYI your drs office will use the same test you use at home to do a urin test, and a blood test will take 3-5 days to come back and by then you will allready know, so going to the DR wont help much at this point. They can look for other signs of pregnance (changes in your breasts, and your uteris) but you would have to have a pelvic, so unless you want to do all that then I would give it a few more days. When you are 14 days late and still have a negative test then make an apt. to find out what is going on. HTH and GOOD LUCK honey!!!!

Yes, you can have a negative result and still be pregnant. It's completely possible that it's too early in the pregnancy, and there's not enough of the pregnancy hormone in your body yet to show up as positive on a pregnancy test. Did you use the first morning's urine? This has the highest concentration of the hormone.
It would be best to go to your doctor's and get a blood (serum) pregnanty test done. Not only will this test tell you if you are pregnant or not, it will also tell you how much of the hormone you currently have in your body.
Good luck, and hope everything turns out well for you!

Yes, it's possible. The pregnancy test detects a hormone found when you are pregnant...at this point the hormone may not be showing up enough to register on the test. Your best bet is to go to the doc for a blood test. That will tell for sure. If you try another home pregnancy test, make sure to do it with your first morning urine, since that tends to be less diluted (from water/coffee/etc) that you drink during the day.

It is possible, especially in the first couple days. A blood test from the hospital would be the most accurate at this stage. Wait a few more days and take it again. It all depends on the level of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone in your body, which increases during early pregnancy. The test picks up the levels of this hormone and it may be too trace an amount to detect as of yet.

~~yes it is possible to get a negative pregnancy test and be pregnant... some women the HCG level don't read high enough on a urine test all the way through their pregnancy... also it may be too early to tell with a urine test... see your doctor, good luck and hopefully congrats will be in order.~~

It depends on how high your "pregnancy hormone" is, it is very possible to have a neg. hpt, but still be pregnant. I would wait a few days, if you haven't stared by monday, call and make a doctors appt. The blood test will be more accurate>
GOOD LUCK< I HOPE YOU GET A POSITIVE SOON!!!!!!!!

It is possible. The accuracy of HPT's is quite high these days though. But if you are still unsure you should see your doctor. You may have missed your period for another reason, which should be investigated.
Good Luck with the TTC though.

It's possible, but very unlikely, I'm afraid. Tests these days are extremely sensitive and reliable.

You are probably delaying your period by worrying about it. If you haven't come on in another few days, then do another test.

Try a different test, or go to the dr on Monday.

Good Luck I hope you are pregnant

I would suggest you make an appointment with the OBGYN and get a blood serum test done and then you will know for sure. Or you may have tested to early.
