Whoever said the prison jail/prison race population reflects the national race/ethnic population does not know what they are talking about.
Bureau of Justice statistics says different. Even though I think they are off some, it certainly renders that other person's statement grossly invalid!
Try reading your Constitution, pay special attention to the 13th Amendment. O.K. notice the part where it says, "...except as punishment for crime..." Well when the white conglomerate got together to write this amendment they knew slavery would put an end to the country's free labor, thus you have the 13th Amendment's ratification and along with it came prisons to house these supposed freed Negroes.
Even the innocent Negroes could not escape the government's new slavery law. So what if these people want equal rights and justice we want to enrich our pockets and our son's and daughters future. I am sure you know how and do, the police and local governments jailed and jail innocent black people.
Then you have the socio-economic policies that have existed since the Negroes have been here.These make it hard for blacks to make a living, then some feel denied by this country so they take what they feel is due to them no matter the outcome. Others are just crazy like white folks can be.

If the poorest people in the USA were white then they would form the largest part of the prison population.
