It is against the law to date and have sex with a minor in the US? I only ask because I know this girl who is 17 and she is dating a 19 year old.

what should I do if it is aginst the law in the state I live in? I really care about her and I know she really cares about the guy. I am afraid if I do anyhting she will hate me.

Need to check with the state your in. MOST states, legal age is 18 but I do believe there are a couple that 17 is the legal age. Better safe than sorry, call the local Sheriffs office and ask them.

Sex is illegal depending on the state. In CT it would not be, unless she pressed charges. I think the spirit of the law should let this one go. There have been too many 18 year old males who are sex offenders because their girlfriends are a few months younger at 17.

Sex is against the law if it's under the age of consent in your state, dating is not against the law. You shouldn't be seeking sex, anyway, unitl you're married.

Dating a minor is seduction under the Penal Law because it is illegal for a man to convince a minor to have sex with him.

17 is considered being an adult in the USA
