Well when I worked at Bath & Body Works (while wearing my headscarf) I had numerous people wishing me Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.Whether they did it out of the goodness of their heart, out of attempted spite, or just to see how I reacted, didn't matter, I still thanked them and greeted them with the same. People don't realize that the actions of some maniacs in other countries do not dictate the way every Muslim thinks, feels and acts. While violent protests were going on overseas regarding the Danish cartoons, Muslims in the US and other western countries were instead writing letters and holding open houses for the community to learn the truth of Islam. Bridging gaps instead of burning them down. It's basically the same with the situation you describe. Yes, there may be some who take offense to it, but not all of us do. Chances are if you tell a Muslim Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas, you'll get the same reply. To me, doesn't matter if I celebrate the holiday or not (I do visit my family on Christmas day for festivities), what I see is someone extending a hand during a holiday that softens their hearts. It's nice to see.

Half our family are christians, half are muslims. We wish each other Happy Christmas, have a lovely halal turkey and share a non-alcoholic pudding and a Xmas cake with no booze in it .

But there is booze present and the muslims amongst us don't get all offended over it. Christians give out the pressies and at Eid, muslims give out the pressies.

We tend to say silent prayers for the ignorant sorts who write comments, some of which are shown above....

And try and keep granny away from too much sherry and falling out with dad over whether we should watch the boring old Queen or not...

I live in a multi-cultural part of town, so there are also many muslims here. Now that Ramadan has started, I need to get to the bakeries real early, because all the goodies are sold so quick for their break at sunset. I will enjoy their celebrations after Ramadan, that is what good neighbours are for. So, at Christmas I would say: Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas. Christmas is a religious holiday, but it also a time for family and friends. My family did Christmas at our house and invited 3 Jewish families over. It started out as a celebration of Christ's birth, but has become something quite different.

Merry Christmas?

NOTHING!

furly356 is right that muslims believe in Jesus, but as a prophet and man...muslims do not believ that Christmas was Jesus' birthday, as do not true believing Chritians...

furly356 is wrong saying that muslims believ that Jesus will be RESSURECTED because muslims do not believ he is dead in the first place...however in Islam it is taight that Jesus was raised to the heavens, he has not dies yet, he shall return to this earth, as he was when he left as a young man...this is all the will of Allah (God) and he has the power to do such thing.

also if any christian has muslim friends/collegues, and they do not wish u a merry christmas, its only because this is against the religion, as it is a great lie against our Creator Allah.

Say nothing at all. They will not wish you a Merry Christmas and you are not going to wish them a Merry Christmas. Besides, they never heard about Christmas if they live in Saudi Arabia. It is forbiden here.
So I wish you a Merry Christmas.Mes Amitiés. Salut.

Happy Holidays. I don't say Merry Christmas to anyone I don't know for a fact celebrates that holiday, because you don't want to offend anyone. Just stick with Happy Holidays, and you can't go wrong. Unless you know the people well and know that they wont mind, I wouldn't assume anything.
