Home Remedy Headache Cures:

There are many cures for headaches first figure what type and what caused it.

If your stressed and have tension. Massage two drops of peppermint oil (avail at healthfood stores) on your temples. Also relax in a hot bubble bath while drinking a cup of peppermint tea.

Morning headaches are from the air not properly circulating while you sleep.

Weekend headaches are usually caused by lack of coffee that most people typically drink during the work week. Keep with the same cycles throughout the week.

Pounding headaches come from bottled stress this is hard to get rid of so find a way to let it out and help yourself relax. Spa therapy helps me.

Migrain cures- put feet in hot water and ice pack on head or neck to help reduce pain.

I hope these herbal cures help you as much as they have me I swear by natural alternatives.

You've got some really great answers on this list!! Both treatment, preventatives and more understanding of causes!

The only thing I have to add is: A long time ago I took a course by Landmark Education where I learned how to help to "disappear" a headache (that was not the point of the course, just an example). I am amazed by how well it works. It involves visualization. I could not adequately describe it here, but you might want to google it.

Good Luck

Go somewhere quiet, and dark. It shouldn't stimulate your senses. Take a few deep breaths. Here are some pressure points that may help. Press the web between your thumb and index finger, gently, hold and release. The temples and the bridge of your nose are other good places. The answerer above who recommended a shower made a really good suggestion. If you can, try that. Don't try alcohol or any other kind of drug!! And I know this isn't what you wanted, but close your eyes and try to catch a catnap. A quick nap probably won't kill your headache, but it'll certainly stall it.

This sounds silly, but it works. Take the thumb and index finger on one hand, and place them on opposing sides of the other hand, right where the pad is between your thumb and index finger, about a finger-width in from the edge. Pinch your hand as hard as you can stand. You will feel a nerve in there, and it will probably be pretty uncomfortable. Usually, the worse the headache is, the worse the nerve hurts. Continue squeezing, and usually, you will feel the headache leave pretty rapidly. I have showed this to many people over the years, and it works at least nine out of ten times. It's really amazing. You can switch hands, too. It doesn't matter which hand you do it to.

It depends on the headache but:

sinus headache: use a wash cloth rinsed in hot water apply it to the nasal-sinus area. Also, you can ask a massage therapist to give you an acupressure treatment which often aids in draining the sinuses.

migraine headache: lay down in a dark, quiet room with an ice pack on your head and neck. It's important not to use heat with a migraine headache as migraines are caused by the super dilation (not constriction like so many assume) of the arteries in the brain and heat only serves to aggravate this. You can also try rubbing a little lavender essential oil on your temples.
Hope this helped!!

Personally, for myself I get really bad headaches and migraines on occasion, and the best thing I find that works for me is laying down in bed.. or on the couch with a cold face cloth resting on my forehead with my eyes closed. I usually turn off any TVs or stereos that may decrease my chances in getting rid of my headache. Also, I find that if you rub both sides of your neck, and somewhat massage it... it gets rid of the intensity of the headache. This also works in between your index finger and your thumb, where the flap of skin is... if you squeeze there you'll be able to find a pressure point, when you squeeze it, you should feel some pain, which will transfer your pain from your head to your thumb! This works well for me.

There are pressure on your body.

Try finding the location of your pain by putting pressure around the neck area, which is usually where the pain comes from to cause headache's.

It should feel like a little pinch when you find it.
What you do is put enough gently, but firm pressure on it and then release. This will make the pain go away.

Good luck

Best trick in the world. I have done this all my life and, depending on why you have a headache, it should help.
Find the "spongy" area on top of your hand right behind your thumb knuckle, grasp the area with two fingers, on top and palm of your hand - and squeeze. You need to apply enough pressure so it stings/ hurts a bit. This area is a direst pressure point and, with a few minutes of the pressure, you should notice a difference.
Hope that helps! Good Luck!

At the on set of a headache take an ammonia capsule brake it and wave it under you nose sniffing it. Don't stick it right up under your nose hold it at about chin level and sniff slowly sever times. Pressure points in the hands work well to. Good luck

You can try a couple of acupressure points. Press the middle of the skin between your thumb and forefinger of one hand (the corner of the L) between the thumb and forefinger of your other hand.

Another pressure point is the bottom of that little U-shaped thing on your chest right where your chin hits when you tilt your head forward.

A third is the crest of the bone at the top of your eye socket.

Experiment with the amount and duration of pressure to see what works best for you.
