Folic Acid isn't to help you get pregnant faster. Dr's tell you to take it while trying so it will be in your system and helping your baby before you even realize you are pregnant. Its also recommended that women who are trying take a prenatal vitamin. If you wait until you take a pregnancy test to start, you've already been pregnant for 2-3 weeks while the baby could have used the vitamins while you did not know you were pregnant yet.

Well, it doesn't help you get pregnant faster but folic acid, a B vitamin, does help prevent birth defects of the brain and spinal cord when taken very early in pregnancy. It is available in most multivitamins, as a folic acid-only supplement and in some foods. Some studies suggest that folic acid may also protect women and men from heart disease, stroke, colon cancer and breast cancer. Take a multivitamin with 400 micrograms of folic acid every day before pregnancy and during early pregnancy, as part of a healthy diet.

Folic Acid does not have anything to do with your ability to get pregnant.
The reason you were told to take it right away is to ensure you have adequate amounts in your bloodstream when you do get pregnant.
Folic acid is a very important (necessary) vitamin that has been proven to prevent spina bifida, a very serious brain and spinal deformity. Mothers who are deficient in this vitamin have a greater risk of having a baby with the disease.

You get pregnant easiest by having sex. Lots and lots of sex, particularly with a man.
All joking aside the best way is to start with the first day of your period and count ahead 12 days from that. Days 12 - 14 are your peak ovulation times. Have at it.

Folic acid has nothing to do with how quick you can get pregnant. You take it for health reasons for you and the baby.

Yes. I also read that the folic acid contained in men's semen is best for a woman's fertility. So drink up!
