In Madden 06 for PS2 how do you turn your QB into a runner?

I keep getting sacked because i try to run it with my QB but he just does slow sidesteps and stops at the LOS. HELP!!!!

For the PS2 just depress the X button and run like crazy. The X causes him to tuck the ball. He won't get break-away speeds until he hits the line of scrimage, but the X helps.
