Interesting inquiry. I'm certain she was more beautiful, as most busts in modern times aren't similar to the acutual facets of the human image. Remember, an artist generally portrays their subject in subjective terms, meaning it's an interpretation of the subject.
Even today, though many self portraits are stunning and seemingly realistic, it's still an interpretive work by the artist. Be well.
