Uranus is surrounded by a system of thin,dark rings that were first detected in stellar occultations. These ring particles vary in size from a few micrometers to about 10 meters. It is so cold at Uranus that the ring particles RETAIN METHANE ICE, and this primarily is responsible for retaining the overall shape. Also, scientists speculate that eons of impacts by electrons trapped in the magnetosphere of the planet have converted this methane ice into dark carbon compounds. This radiation darkening can account for the low reflectivity of the rings. Hope this helps you.
