Hi,

I've just started a long distance realtionship with my girlfriend and I've been writing a little diary of each day until it's full and then I'm gonna post it to her. The problem I've found so far is that it's just my scribbly handwriting on it and nothing else. So i was wondering if anyone has any ideas how i could put a bit of life and romance in it without making it look sickly (i.e with glitter or other cheesy stuff like that) it needs to be romantic but at the same time masculine...as i'm a man! any ideas? serious ones that is. thanks

things that remind you of her. an object or something you both like.

The best idea is to keep it real and simple, not all girls like the glittery fake stuff as long as your handwriting is visible she'll love it. This will show her you're not trying to "pretty" things up, your keeping it original and real (no fake stuff), what good would it do anyway, the most important thing is the words you've written. After all and is said and done she's going be more interested in your notes.

Adding a few photos and a bit of poetry doesn't make you less a man that you are. If it's a long distance relationship, anything she can remember you by would be a plus. Words are nice but a few pictures to go with it completes the story and feelings ....

Have you thought about learning to collage? Collaging is mixing photos, text, found objects, etc. onto pages. You could make themed pages for her like "how you make me feel" and glue in some pictures of yourself doing different faces or something like that. You can get really creative with collages like gluing in pieces of jewelry or using scents (try spraying a page corner with your usual cologne!).

put little photos of you on a few pages, like when you have spoke to her, your happy so a smiling face, when your missing her, a piccy of you miserable, a little locket with her photo in attatched to the diary. spray the pages with aftershave so she can smell you when your not there (women love that) stick a red rose thats dried out on a page and write a little poem around the rose.
i cant think of anymore, i wrote a day to day diary for my daughter and stuck little photos of her achievements so i know it looks good with photos in.
she will like it whatever you do as you have done it for her

To be masculine about it, then it must smell like you. Have pictures of you and her. To have words you reaguly use when you romance her. You need to have your feelings, thoughts and words in there to show her how much you miss her. She would like to know that you are trying to be romantic but retain some of you.

If you would lke to drive her nuts over you, sprinkle exactly two drops of 711 onto one of the pages. (Citrus scent.) It will fade with time, and by the time she gets it from you, it will be creating the most delightful, light aura that will nicely frame all the great things you have created for her to have. - Chris!

retype it, so it looks like if your diary is on a computer. Or you could always rewrite it, neatly, and draw little harts-lol

anyway, i still don't get why your writing a diary to give to your gf. all this time iv thought diary was supposed to be something to put all your secrets.
