my brother did a project with plants. he put one plant in the window in a room where he spent a specific amount of time talking to it and playing it music. in another room, he gave the other plant only a certain number of hours of light and never put any sound near it. the one that received attention grew alot more than the other. you might try doing it in duplicate. and you might try to see the effect of different types of music - metal vs mozart - to see the effects on growth.

What about doing a composting project? You can use a plastic two liter bottle with the top cut off. Layer soil with composting items such as food scraps and a few worms. You will be able to watch the composting through the clear plastic. Cover the bottle with a layer of cheese cloth and secure it with rubber bands.

Good luck. :)
