When I looked it up at dictionary.com, the only definition they had was for the drug...

A heroic woman is a "heroine".
You should be able to find the definition you're looking for with that spelling.

Since it is a Greek word I assume that a heroic woman has to be written a HEROID(ΗΡΩΙΔΑ).

That is because you spelled it wrong, which I'm assuming someone already told you, but try HEROINE and see what that gets you...

well the song says 'love is the drug' (bryan ferry) for us hetro's woman is the drug ...viz a viz woman,drug, makes a lot of sense.
