He has a secret machine that sets oil prices. He can control supply and demand with a touch of a button. This from a guy who cannot control the border yet he miraculously controls everything else.

Why is it that liberal loonies think that Bush controls the price of gas, the weather and ever other aspect of everything in the world yet they can call him an idiot in the same sentence.

As a major player in OPEC, Saudi Arabia does have influence over oil production, and therefore can control the price. If someone was really close to the Saudi Royal Family and was able to offer them something in return, it is possible for them to work out some kind of quid pro quo.

It is also interesting to note that when the sanctions were lifted, Saddam would have been able to sell oil on the world market without being held to quotas set by OPEC.

Two things motivate people at the top level, money and power.
Someone who already has billions in wealth will be willing to make a little less to maintain or increase their power.

Heh, No GWB doesnt get blamed for everything, thers Sliverstien and Rumsfeld and Norman Augistine C.E.O of Lockheed Martin, and Dick Cheney, and Condomlisa Rice, and Wolfowitz, and Haliburtin, and the C.I.A and Daddy Bush, and Hilary Clinton who is a "Closet Republican" having been seen in the company of Republican party officials, sucking their butts, and Whoever placed the P.U.T Options on United and American Airlines just two days prior to 9/11. and and and and...The list goes on and on and on....so No, its not just all GWB's fault, Although he is one of the main ring leaders so long as Rumsfeld hand is up his @$$ controlling his mouth.

For instance; The statement that GWB makes, to the school children claiming he saw the FIRST plane strike the Trade Towers on tv, even though the media was not present yet, as the attack had not occured.

Or, his statement in his journal, dated September 10th, stating that two planes were flown into the Trade Towers on this date.

Or Rumsfelds essay on A New Pearl Harbor. Given to the Rumsfeld Commision, in which he states that the government needs more money for the military to militarize space. And the only way of doing this, of convincing the public would be A New Pearl Harbor.

Or Silverstien putting insurance on The Trade Towers 2 weeks before the "attacks" which stated that if a "Terrorist Attack" happened He would get reimbursed for the Towers. Making 7 billion dollars profit on the deaths of over 4,000 people. Silverstien knew that The Towers were in need of Repair, Upgrading, and Abestos removal, and was unwilling to fix the problem. The Trade Towers were losing money, and many offices were empty and not showing a profit. Quite a nice return on your investment isnt it?

Or God knows how many soldiers dead or wounded. And the wounded soldiers having to pay for their own food while hospitalized. It's the same thing that happened in Vietnam except worse. At least the Vietnam Vets, didnt have to wait for surgery for years.

Before you start calling Me names at least take the time to veiw the first link in its entirity then you will at least know what you're talking about.

Bush doesnt get blamed for nearly half of what he has done to this country, killing, lying, going to war illegally (Remember, Congress hadnt approved it when Bush started the war) Attempted global domination, stealing from the public, planning, and orchistrating an attack against his own country while in office, an offense considered treason, planning and trying to impliment a police state?tyranny here in the U.S., Trying to make it legal for a foreign national (Arnold Schwartzenneger) to run for the office of the President of The United States, attacking the Constitution, War crimes against Iraq (No weapons of Mass Destruction were ever found), Monopolizing the oil industry, Rigging elections, allowing the Pentagon to be attacked (The Building, like the White House, is ringed by anti missle defense systems, which had to be turned off inside the building) and basically just being a G()d Da^^ned crook!. You want to suck up whats coming out of his @$$, feel free, but I for one will never believe any thing he says. He wouldnt know the truth if it bit him, and his parents should be ashamed for raising such a child!!!!!

Don't underestimate the power of one person. An example: The world economy can very well being influenced by our Fed chairman and the interest rate he determines alone. He himself does nothing about trading or investing. Yet he makes a huge difference.

Back to your question.
President of U.S is a very powerful position. What Bush did wrong was rackening the nerves of the stability of the OPEC. All these oil trader in the future market get nervious and shot up the oil price. Bush himself did nothing directly to the oil price. But his action sure trigger the skyrocketed oil price.

And interesting enough, he has good number of oil company stocks.

Go check how much he and our vice-president profited last year.

He is the blame for everything, goes with the job, if he and you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. The price of oil is controlled by the oil company's Bush attacks Iraq gives the oil company's reason to raise the price of oil. Iran pharts and they raise the price of oil. Bush sneezes and the price of oil goes up. Election comes around and the price of oil goes down. Nothing in the government to stop them so why not and in the mean time you and I paid over $3 a gallon all summer. Where was Bush to stop it. He was clearing brush in Texas and raking in some of those profits. Sorry dude but Bush is the blame for a lot of it.

presidents get blamed for the good and bad every term... they are the quarterbacks of the country... heros if everything goes right, villians if it doesn't, regaurdless of what they actually did or didn't do...

now as for your example... prices are based on supply and demand... and I don't mean to burst your bubble, but war in an oil rich area will mess with supply and demand (terror attacks on Iraqi pipelines for example have hurt the overall supply world wide)... now did he plan to do this for this reason... most would say he didn't... but it still could be an affect of his actions...

Wrong.
He gets blamed because he is the head of the government.
Just like a Corporation. When they run into trouble the stock holders (aka the citizens) blame the execs and change them out. How a company operates is a direct reflection of the leader. Bad leader = Bad results. Bad President=Trouble for USA.

I have to admit, that there are some things that no politician has any control over that Bush is commonly blamed for (though this applies to any of the previous 42 presidents as well)

The fact that Bush appears to be blamed for everything is actually a very clever strategy of the Republican Party. Bush's approval rating has fallen past the point of him being able to make significant impact (a "Lame Duck") but the poltical power of the Republican party itself can still be maintained if the now deffective Bush is used as a constant scapegoat for problems that would otherwise be spread party-wide.
