Patients in rehab can call anyone they please. And they really are the same person they were when they went in-they just see things differently. My son was in and out of rehabs always with the same girlfriend and the only thing that was different was they fought alot more, unfortunately as he was very crabby when he came out and she always knew when he wanted to get high again so good luck because she was always there for him i value her.

Rules depend upon the rehab center; some do, some don't alow visitation by frieds.
Darling, you are right, you were not the source of his addiction, but it doesn't change the fact that he is an addict. The addicts I have known have averaged between 6-10 the number of rehab attempts before they were able to really get and stay clean! A few do it on first try, but relapse is the name of the game! It's what makes it a disease. it is a brain function.
If you choose to stay with him ( and he may be worth it) stand ready for a rough road ahead! it's not going to be pretty. Ask the wife of any addict! Go to Al Anon for answers.

I want to say yes because of my experience, but people are different. In my case, this guy wasn't really my boyfriend ; we just hooked up a couple of times. He was an alcoholic and after knowing him for a couple of months, he got sent off to rehab. I never visited him in person, because he couldn't have visitors, except family. We did write; however, when he did get out there was something different about him. It's hard to explain. Kinda like a missing link. Like he was trying to forget the past, me included!! Maybe we just didn't have what it took to connect. Your guy could be totally opposite!! Good-luck!!

People that have known that have come out of rehab seem to think that they are better than others that have not been there. I have bad luck with those relationships.

I think rehab gives a person the opportunity to examine all parts of their life and what drove them to their destructive behavior. Kind of a downer, but I think all relationships are up for review.
