Why is it that some women over-exaggerate things?

Like if you have a piece of food on your chin they say you have food all over your face or if there's a jellybean in the middle of the floor they say there's jellybeans all over the floor!

Men underrate the things they say, like the man who tells his wife hes going out for a few minutes and comes back the next day. Or when an old boyfriend call and tells you he still looks the same, and when you meet him he still looks the same except for being bald, grey and 50 lbs heavier?
In this case I suppose objectivity isn't in the eye of the beholder.

Look, generally the woman are more verbally than men, and the women are more expressive. For these reason the woman have more activities in the left cerebral hemisphere and the men have more activities en the right cerebral hemisphere. The left site working in verbal activities and the right site (men) working with arithmetic, spacial intelligence, so the men are more practical. That's is neuropsychology.

oh and neuropsychology doesn't create it, it studies (sometimes through a subjective cultural lens) what is happening in the brain. However, let me paint you another picture, see, I first majored in psych but have since changed my major to sociology, I feel that in having a cross reference between the two sciences one has access to information like this:

Brain Gender: Often mistakenly referred to as "Brain Sex"

As brains develope, they can become gendered. If boys are encouraged to do a certain set of activities, those areas of their brains will develope. In contrast, if girls are encouraged to do a certain set of activities, that part of their brains will develop. If people and society keep segregating people into gendered groups, then there will be gendered brain where one part is more developed for one group, and another part more developed for another group.

Also, IQ tests are often based on speed, which require confidence. Women-gendered people in mainstream western culture are socialized into roles and outlooks that do not always inspire much self confidence, so while the majority of boys have been encouraged by society to be self confident, they will be speeding a head while the girls are double checking their answers.

To extend this beyond what I answered in Yahoo Q&A, I would like to add that any human group, regardless of whether it is men, women, gender variants, nongendered people, of any sexes or affiliation, if they are either socialized by others to do a certain set of activities, or if they unto themselves prefer a certain set of activities, their brains will change based on that.

I think for the same reason some men over-exaggerate things. When I listen to some men tell stories it is fun to hear it change a little each time...

They're called Drama Queens. These women intentionally overreact to the slightest problems in order to attract attention to themselves and provoke a response from others.

This is because they are very good at getting people's attention through the use of dramatic affect...it's a useful skill to use on people who are otherwise not terribly good listeners.. it certainly appears to have worked on you...well done!

They're trying to pull a guy's head out of the sand....and....

they need to compete with other women for attention....and....

they aren't confident that their needs will be taken care of, either by themselves or with help, without others buying in to the drama.

Ha..we women love to make people feel uncomfortable sometimes. It is fun to point out to someone that they have something wrong w/ them even though it isn't that big of deal.

I like that term "over-exaggerate" that's a good way of explaining it. Because, let's face it, we all exaggerate, but some women over-exaggerate. Like when they notice a brown skid in your underwear and they have to say "HEY! You **** your pants!!!"
