It is wrong for anyone to hit anyone, but why diffetentiate between men and women, some women beat men up, and some children beat their parents up, and visa versa. A slap is one thing, and just one slap, but hitting, and repeating it. That isnot just wrong it is an offence and an insight into how much the people concerned are messed up.

It's wrong for people to hit people! It would be good if greater sexual equality means men hitting people less, not women hitting people more....
There are varous reasons why culturally, it is less acceptable for men to hit women than to hit other men, although there are lots of exceptions to all these generalisations.
On average, men are stronger than women, and traditonally seen as more prone to violence.
Men were traditionally supposed to protect women, who were seen as more vulnerable and also more 'above' violence than men, so for a man to hit a woman is seen as particularly inappropriate.
Men are seen as less articulate and less able to express feelings and so more likely to lash out physically.
Women may be pregnant so by hitting a woman a man can be harming an unborn child as well.

Honey, you hit back that was self defence, it is not right for anyone to lift their hands, no matter how angry they are, It is not right for a man to hit a women, and not right for a woman to hit a man, although most of the cases reported to police are of wife/girlfriend beating, There is massive cases of Husband abuse that never ever get reported, because it's just not done, Assault is Assault no matter which way you look at it.

So when this boy hit you, why did you feel the need to punch back? Was it because you had a negative response both emotionally & psychologically that what he did was wrong? So you need to teach him what it felt like to be hit/attacked & feel his behavior was unjustified toward you? You basically answered your own question by the response you had toward him hitting you. So if you felt it was wrong then, what on earth would ever make it right for anyone else? Pain is something all creatures feel & they all have negative reactions to it, causing serious harm to the recipient. (Do on to others as you'd have others do on to you... ) which most people don't wish for someone to inflict pain on to them, it's just not in our genetic make up.

It's just as wrong for women to hit men as it is for men to hit women, believe me there are a large number of men who suffer at the hands of violent women.

What do YOU think? Do you want to be hit by him? We should respect each other, at least not hitting each other, otherwise... But it's a long story to tell. Pray to God and try to keep yourself out of trouble!

Same reason it's wrong for you to hit him. We are supposed to be civilized. Out of respect for others, hands off.
You hit for a few reasons
1 Self Defense
2 Fear
3 Anger
4 Power over another
Obviously the 1st 2 are ok. The latter are inexcusable. Ask any battered woman why she was hit. If she's still with the abuser, it's her fault. If she's gotten out, it's his fault, but she still blames herself for not fixing him, not being strong enough to stay & work it out or for not being strong enough to get out sooner.
