Court more diverse American citizens.

First of all, the left wing kooks run the party. They are against what the US stands for. They do not want to fight the terrorists and defend us. They do not want to stop illegal immigration. There have been repeated instances of voting fraud, the worst being the votes that were found in Seattle for the WA governors race. The Democrat eventually won after these votes were found. It did not matter to anyone that there were more votes cast than registered voters.
Then you add the constant barrage of negative that the Democrat leaders put out there. They stand against everything the president does. They undermine the war effort with quagmire comments by Ted Kennedy. They need to shut up John Kerry, who is probably the only person who does not know he makes a fool of himself every time he opens his mouth.
I am a lifetime Republican voter and am fed up with the party. Anyone who comes along and will do the following will win my vote:
1. Make english the official language of America
2. Control the borders. Build a wall (note the Congress passed this law, but failed to authorize funding. This kind of crap is what ticks off conservatives. Like we are not smart enough to figure out what they did). NO AMNESTY. Go after employers who hire illegals and start with contractors and resteraunts.
3. Pass a law that allows God to stay in the pledge. If you do not like it, do not say it. I am sick of Americans who try and tell others whether they can practice or acknowledge their religion.
4. Require a voter ID card. Why do so many Democrats oppose this? The only reason any logical person can come up with is they want to have fraud: illegals voting, etc. The state would have to pay for it. 80% of Americans support this.
5. Permanently repeal the death tax.
6. Restore property rights. Overrule the Court on the Kilo decision. Taking private property is out of control.
7. Control spending and balance the budget
8. Work towards energy independence. This includes drilling for oil where we refuse to now. It includes nuclear, clean fuels, and the whole gambit.
9. Make teachers accountable. Results. No more allowing failing schools.
10. Truly fight the Islamic terrorists.
11. Deal with North Korea and Iran. No more just negotiating. These are problems that will only get worse.
I doubt Democrats will ever support any of this. They are too interested in pandering to the ACLU, feminists, and the usual left wing groups.
Show some leadership, which they are not doing now.
Quit class warfare: us versus the rich. This is so old and does not work. Find ways where we can all work together. Look into the Fair Tax.
Quit pimping the victim mentality. I see it with black leaders. I see it with trial lawyers who want to sue over everything. Start taking personal responsibility and quit calling successful people like Condi Rice Uncle Tom's.

You can't.
The communists, socialists, freaks, and wackos, have driven the good people out of the Democrat Party.
All that's left in the Party are people who really don't like the USA that much.
IF.... this is a serious question: read Zel Miller's book. He is a good, honest, American-Loving Democrat. I would vote for him, and be proud of doing it. Zel Miller is a great Democrat, a great man, and a patriot.
Oh, by the way, the Democrat Party hates Zel Miller. No surprise there.

Get rid of all Liberals in your party.More real Democrats who left because of them would come back..
Kimmm is basically saying throw mud on Republicans.You all have been doing that for many years and it hasn't got ya anywhere, has it? Instead of being content on yelling about what Bush has done wrong, maybe shock EVERYONE and offer solutions..

Democrats need to get their ideology coherent.
Are they libertarian or authoritarian? I can't tell. They claim to empathize with the little guy and protect him from oppressive plutocracy, but at the same time they want to ban guns; they want to censor certain kinds of expression (usually bigoted expression, but STILL!) but complain about Republican violations of the First Amendment; they want to tolerate all religions -- except for the predominant religion of this country.
They come off as wanting to convince people that Abortion Isn't Bad (it almost sounds like a warped dead-baby-joke), and few can understand that what they really mean is that Abortion Prohibition is Worse.
They are generally all about centralized government, and want to apply the U.S. Constitution to state and local governments (why even HAVE state and local governments?). They want to apply the First Amendment to towns and states, but pretend the Second one was never written - when the First Amendment applies explicitly to Congress, and the Second is written in a passive construction with no explicit agent!
They claim to want to defend freedom and civil rights, but they support numerous new laws and agencies and bureaus and organizations, giving precedent to government to operate in areas of people's lives that it never had before.
THEY WANT TO INSTITUTE A BUREAUCRATIC WELFARE STATE AND GIVE MIDDLE-CLASS TAX FUNDS TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO WORK, FOR FREE, WHEN BETTER RESULTS COULD BE ACHIEVED SIMPLY BY TAXING THE HELL OUT OF THE FILTHY RICH -- NOT UPPER MIDDLE CLASS LIKE LAWYERS AND FAMILY DOCTORS, BUT LIKE 7+ FIGURE EARNERS, WHO NOW PAY A LOWER PERCENTAGE OF THEIR INCOME THAN ANYONE.
I'm totally voting Democrat because neocons are greedy soulless oligarchs, but I can see how people would be turned off by the Democrats.
If the Democrats don't get their act together, then the future of the world is one of corporate fiefdoms...

We need to be proud of our liberal heritage and tell the people what the word liberal means and that it is not a bad thing.
The worst thing that happened to the Democratic party was all of our politicians going more and more to the right, and/or they stopped calling themselves liberals.

... I think a nice first step would be to nominate a good candidate for president... I like edwards or warner... more middle of the road guys...
and take a pro-active approach on terror... more agresively go after bin Laden... with more pressure...

Go out and find a bunch of dense people who have no interest in thinking for themselves and offer them cigaretes or drugs in return for votes. That's about your only hope, unless and until the democratic politicians start getting tuff on terror and acting like American citizens, rather than ingrates who hate their own country.
