Jennifer L, I personally take offense to your question. You are making it seem like Im a trampy girl because I don't agree with some aspects of the code. I am far from a ho and dont dress like one either. I don't let my boobs hang out, I don't show my *** to the school, I don't wear super short skirts. Not all teenagers are ho's. Most of us are respectable young women.

Actually, its not really crazy at all. The school thinks it makes perfect sense and if you think of it in a certain way, it kinda does.

The school just wants you to focus more on learning than your outfits and what other people are wearing. They don't want a crazy outfit to distract the students from learning. Its a school, not a runway.

They also don't want to give the school or its students a bad image. If a visitor comes in and sees everyone in ripped, tight, revealing clothing, they are going to think something different than if they see everyone dressed in appropriate, casual clothes.

They are also teaching you to learn to live with a dress code because face it, a lot of jobs and businesses have them. They are preparing you for the real world and in a way, showing you that you can look good without dressing inappropriately.

They are also protecting you in a way too. If you wear tight jeans and tube tops every day to school you'll attract people of the opposite sex really fast and thats how alot of girls get themselves into some trouble, if you know what I mean.

If you think that's strict, look at some of the Catholic and private school uniforms. They have to buy them from a certain place so everyone looks exactly the same.

i understand how you feel, i hated my school's dress policy too and couldn't wait for teh day when i finally left. we had a unifrm, so there wasn't much we could do. however, looking back, i can see why they did a lot of the things they did, which seemed unreasonable at the time. i think the school board is only trying to maintan a certain level of decency which if given the hance most young people would try their best to take advantage of. why would you want to wear sexy tops in school? only to attract boys and end up getting pregnant before the right time? you are in school to learn, not flirt or get attention from the other sex. those are just distractions that do not serve to further the purpose of a school, nor are they a benefit to you right now. you have your whole life ahead of you to wear sexy, attractive, trendy clothing. there is a right place and time for things like that. wear them on the weekends when you go out with friends, etc. when you are at school try not to get distracted by your clothing and accessories too much. you'll only be there for a small fragment of your life, and it will pass very soon. just try to relax and enjoy it without getting into trouble too often.

America stops at the entrance to a school.

While the freedoms in America are based on the individual, the rules in schools are based on the safety and appropriate of the masses.

What I mean by this is that in school, something has to be against the rules if one person could get injured or disrupt the educational process by doing it.

That is just how school is.

well if i can agree with the school.
school is for an education NOT to a "who is the skimpiest dressed tramp in school?" or "who has the most money for the best clothing?"
did you happen to notice? most of that stuff is for GIRLS!!
you go around school showing off your boobs, *** and waist, thigns taht is not what school is about.
if you want to act like that than get a proper education then you should drop out and become a prostitute.
back in teh past there wasnt such a high rate of kidnapping and rapes due to the fact that women/ or i should say GIRLS didnt go around wearing almost nothing and complaining why they were raped or someone was killed, its common knowledge that many girls dont seem to possess now adays.
back then they had uniforms and i cant wait for the steadily increasing day when they will enforce that in school everywhere, that way no one has any reason to be trying to show off thier clothes or jewelry. i work at a clothing store and so many parents come in and have told me that they reason they are buying these clothes is thier child thinks its cool, such as when they were buying a pair of pants too big for him and flatly told me that he thought it was cool to have his butt/boxers showing. that is not cool that is retarded and they should be ashamed of themselves for allowing thier child to dress in such a manner. that kind of dress/attitude children show now adays will not give them a good side towards getting a job.
and im sure there will be plenty of people who agree with me on this.

I don't see anything crazy about your schools dress code. From the moment I started school, I was in uniform. At the time I hated it but as I got older, it made sense. I never had to worry about what top went with what skirt/pants. All I had to worry about was getting to school on time.

It's just you. The dress code is fine. And they need to be specific or else kids will find loopholes. Personally, I'm also in favor of uniforms. Sometimes companies require employees to wear them. There's no difference for a student who also answers to authority figures. Dressing the way you want in school is not a constitutional right.

its not that bad at least you can choose you own clothes..when I was in high school last year, my high school enforced an uniform policy...which is way worse...we had to wear khaki bottoms and school colors tops..that had to be a collared shirt and it had to have buttons on it.......IT WASN'T EVEN A PRIVATE SCHOOL. dude more people have worse....if you violated the dress code you were put in iss for the day which was in this old auto classroom...which smelled like oil and it didn't have ANY a-c. it would get really hot in there

ok, the color thing is a bit crazy, but the rest, I think is to protect kids in school. The reason you can not wear hats or jewelry is because you may be able to hurt someone with jewelry or you could hide something in your hat. So yes some are a bit crazy but others are to protect you and your peers.

Nope, it sounds just fine. Personally I think all schools should just have uniforms. It levels the playing field and makes for less destractions.

This actually its the basic school dress code. Every school ive been to has had atleast these limits. And ive been to atleast a dozen in my school career.

:) It could be worse. Like uniforms. Which i still think are the best idea.
