No milk when your baby has diarrhea. stick to pedialyte and the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and toast.

When my baby was 9 months old, he was sick with diarrhea and vomiting. I was able to take him to the doctor and was told to continue feeding him his milk bottles and also crackers, dry toast, and other simple carbohydrates. I was told that it was important to continue feeding him milk, that it might cause the diarrhea to increase before it gets better, but that it is important for hydration as well as flushing the germs out.

I was told to have pedialyte on hand but that he probably wouldn't drink it unless he was truly dehydrated. They suggested using a dropper and giving small amounts at a time.

Anyway, it's hard to answer your question without knowing the age of your baby. If milk is part of his/her regular diet, I would say to continue offering it but don't force anything. Most importantly, I think you should call your pediatrician. They usually are on-call after hours and this is what they are there for. You'll feel much better about what you're doing if you get advice straight from the doctor.

Good luck and I hope your baby gets better soon- it stinks when they're sick!!

Dairy shouldn't be had in either case: constipation OR diarrhea. Bananas and rice water are good for diarrhea.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR -- stop trying to get medical advice for your baby on Yahoo answers.

To answer the question -- milk is a bad idea. Pedialyte or water is what she needs.

possibly. sometimes milk makes it worse. I would stick to water/watered down juice or pedialyte. Helps w/ dehydration too.

YOU SHOULD GIVE THE BABY PEDAILITE FOR DIARRHEA, WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T GIVE THE BABY APPLE JUICE. YOU CAN STILL GIVE THE BABY MILK, BUT YOU SHOULD GO AND GET SOME PEDALITE ALSO. IT HAS ELECTROLYTES THAT THEY LOSE WHEN THEY HAVE DIARRHEA.
