Yes - they are government lackeys at the moment - talk of BBC independence and integrity is pretty laughable.

Just managing a little impartiality would be such a pleasant change. BBC news broadcasting is a joke - I tend to look up Reuters or watch Sky these days.

Mind you Reporting Scotland has to be the most cringeworthy unless you like government sponsored moaning!

To be fair, I think the BBC have probably maintained their political balance - if anything, I think they have followed the trend of the rest of the media and shifted slightly to the right over the last few years. If they appear to be more left-of-centre than before, it is probably because the 'centre' of major party politics has shifted dramatically to the right since Labour came into power, and so relative to that, the BBC appears to be further to the left.

Personally speaking, long may it continue. Given the vested interest that commercial media has in supporting the right, the BBC is our last remaining hope for a degree of impartiality.

The BBC is there to represent the state and its interests - they couldn't care less about left-wing/right-wing or Lab/Con, they just report the interests of great power (actually I would argue that makes them right-wing.)

Andrew Marr's farcical propaganda regarding Iraq (e.g. his insistence that Blair was right and we didn't create a bloodbath) is a case in point - the ruling classes and their interests are what matter for the BBC. They tinker with side-issues - matters in the work place and so on - and this gives them a liberal sheen (they'll always interview someone from the ethnic minorities) but that's window-dressing and isn't the heart of what they're about.

The BBC is more fair and balanced than anything in America.
Just as is the case with NPR, the most objective journalism is that which is free of the market place.

Most news in America is slave to ratings and revenue, with truth being the first casualty.

Just because white-trash Christian beliefs dominate America now, it doesn't mean the 'news' they like is journalism.

Do YOU believe the sun rises in the east and settles in the west?

Has the BBC ever been anything less than a lib-tard sounding board?
