The 1963 version of "The Haunting," with Claire Bloom -- really edgy and terrifying.
I also think "The Uninvited" with Ray Milland and "The Blair Witch Project" were extremely creepy.
Wicker Man --good but too special effects obsessed.

"Night of the Living Dead"
I saw it a a Drive In Theatre years ago. We went to see the Exorcist. It was in black and white and way more scary than the Exocist.
My son, who loves all scary movies and seen most, asked me the same question. He got the movie, watched it, and even he agreed it was the scariest movie of all time. It also won an award somewhere in the last 10 years as being just that.

I havent seen wicker man yet so i cant help you on that one....although IT and Grudge. I cant watch Grudge by myself and IT is the reason why I don't walk close to gutters

If they ever make a movie about the life of Richard Kuklinski that would be it . That man is a creepy maniac .

Tales of Terror: Tokyo stories. The Japanese have a whole different style of horror. It creeped me out.
