I really like Winamp.

It doesn't slow your PC down like other heavy players.
I would NOT trust limewire for downloads. It does not come with an anti-virus for its downloads and I know too many people that have had to completely reload windows to get limewire junk off there system. Plus people are downloading off your PC and that will kill your PC & internet speed

I would NOT use itunes if you want to do something with your computer while it is running. Every time I've tried to "make the switch" to itunes, it's sucked up so much system power that I've gotten frustrated and removed it from the computer (which, btw, can be rreeeeeeeally hard to do completely).
Winamp and Windows Media Player are both good for playing music.
As far as downloading music goes, I wouldn't recomend doing so. RIAA lawsuits are increasing and they're suing people for basically everything they're worth. But if you have to, DC++ would probably work pretty well.

their is this thing called limewire that u can download for free with no money on viruses and after u download it on2 ur pc u can burn a cd or download on ur ipod and much more and its all for free!!!!!!!!!try it.
