The official, legal name of the 1901-60 Washington team was the Nationals. They used the Senators name just as much as Nationals, though.

They were the Nationals from 1905 to 1956. There have been two teams called the "Washington Senators"...the 1901-1960 team (the same as the 1905-1956 Nationals), and the 1961-1971 Senators (the expansion team made when the original Senators became the Minnesota Twins).
