My 6 year old son wants to recite a hockey poem at school for his poetry unit....he is a HUGE Leafs fan (and really...who whouldn't be?!? lol)
Anybody know any poems?

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the best team in all the lands
When I see them I want to clap my hands
From the goalie making great saves
To the wings scoring lots of goals
Lets the Leafs know I am one of their biggest fans.
Hows that for less then two minutes work.

A Make Belief fan so it should be how leafs go to die each winter. Or something about Tie Dopey or how Wendy got shut down by the Nux in '94...over...rated!
Hilarious. You inflicted the Laffs on your son. That's worse than cruelty towards animals.

To be honest I haven't liked the leafs since they stole Ed Belfour from us, but come to think of it, it's not so bad. After all the guy hasn't gotten any farther than to rounds in the playoffs that I'm aware of. Therefore having Marty Turco isn't really any worse.... maybe that is why no one has said Belfour in any of these poems yet. I mean goalie sounds better.
I'm just poking fun. I mean Turco (and don't get me wrong I love having him here) only does well in the regular season.
I like the leafs a lot more than quite a few teams. Ed Belfour was really the only thing our teams shared so I don't hate them.

I think you should let your son write something about the sport itself, not a specific team. Does your son play? If he does get his feelings and what he likes about playing and put that into poem. Don't under estimate the little ones, they are filled with some pretty impressive things.

when ever they come on the ice, all the fans scream
the goalie makes the save, and the whistle blows
the forwards make the shot
and in the net it goes
the tronto maple leafs are my favorite team
thats why when ever i see them, i want to scream
