When an apple drops from the tree, it gets bored of falling, so it stops.
What exists beyond the border line of its final destination is the question mark in the apples path of travel.

apples don't have feelings? I beg to differ... but that is not the conversation at hand.

The parellel between this theory and the path of man is interesting. One could say that gravity forces the apple to it's inevitable path to the ground. but if one truly stands back to evaluate the path of the life of any man, does not time itself inevitably lead life to an abrupt stop every time? the wind blows hard, the earth sways, the bird lands, all effect the outcome of a single apple. the apple will fall but his course is not always the same, the distance is not always so sure. just because one is destined to fall to the ground, does not mean the path is inevitable. just the destination.

and the apples query of the land below? much like mans query of the life hereafter. in a simplistic, effect viewpoint, i agree with this saying. but i am a simple apple, enjoying my fall to the ground, hoping to see the green grass i heard so much about...

It is not a theory. It is a saying. And whomever said it was a blithering moron. It was said by an ignoramus who simply did not have a grasp on the most basic of physical observations. When the apple falls it hits the ground and stops. If the ground were not there it would keep going until something else stopped it.
The apple really doesn't have a destination. It just does what nature tells it to.

Even if the apple had an opinion in the matter, it would not have a say as to whether or not it reaches its final destination. So this saying is doubly ridiculous.

I bored an apple once. I bored the core right out of the sucker. Go read Xeno's story about the Tortoise and Achilles. That Achilles, what an apple brain.

there is no question about the apples path of travel...gravity decides that it will fall straight down. thats why this saying is erroneous.
