Mumbai (Bombay, as was)...12,000,000, or thereabouts.
The usual suspects like London and New York is way down the list. Apparently the largest conglomeration is Tokyo, with 35,000,000, but as proinsias says, it takes in Yokohama etc.

Depends on if u mean geography or population. Plus, what defines a city? Tokyo is said to be biggest, but this stat takes in the fact that its connected to other smaller cities (eg, yokohama) and is thus a conurbation, not a city per se. Mexico City is cited as the largest in terms of true defintion of city because of its massive population.

Sao Paulo - with 10.2 million people within the city limits.
If you want to include the surrounding urban area, it's Tokyo with 35.5 million people.
Here's a list for the 300 biggest cities (counted both ways) http://www.citymayors.com/features/largest_cities1.html

The above answers are incorrect. It is Chongqing, China (pronounced Chongching). Few people have heard of it as there is nothing really special about it, other than its population of 31 million.
