Last night, I was out with some friends. After the bar closed, we were invited to a party. I agreed to go, (I was driving) with two friends. When we got outside, a couple more girls jumped in the car. I had brought donuts to work that day and had leftovers in the back seat. They sat on them. We get to the party and everybody's having a good time, then people started doing cocaine, being a recovering addict, that made me very uncomfortable. By this time it was about 4-4:30am. I told my friends I was ready to go. They weren't and told me so. I drove them there and I'm the type of considerate person that if I bring someone, I make sure they get home, so I stayed until about 5:30. They all got upset with me because I wanted to leave. Was I being inconsiderate? I don't think so. I think they disrespected me, not the other way around.

You are a good Friend and you are a true testimony of the recovery program. Though you really should have told them to get another ride home you should be very proud that you RESPECTED YOU... Try not to put yourself in that kind of position. PS how long in recovery? One hand generally follows the other and a bar may not be the atmosphere you are most safe. Best of luck to you one step one day at a time...

Yes your friends were disrespectful. They know that this wasnt a environment you needed to be a part of and they should have seen how uncomfortable it was for you. I wouldnt have comprised myself to please my friends. I would have told them that this wasnt somewhere I wanted to be and if they were riding with you then you were ready to leave. I am sure they could find someone to bring them home. Friends isnt a word I would use freely to describe these females. They were selfish and thought only about themselves. You dont need friends like these. The donuts in your back seat were the less of your worries.

Friends would not have put you in that situation, they would have left when the drugs appeared. With friends like that you could wind up in jail or dead. You can be quilty through association.
I'd find new friends. And if it happens again just leave!
Be a your own person! Don't be one who goes along with the crowd, use your instincts and gut feelings. You know right from wrong.
Pray about every thing, Ask it in Jesus's name and God will answer.
And I pray that you will stay away from Drugs and Alcohol.
Prayers works wonders. Believe me, I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for prayers and the good "Lord".
Enough preaching.
God Bless You!

With friends like that who needs enemies. You deserve better friends than that. They should of picked up and left when the drugs were brought out. Knowing that it made you uncomfortable should have been reason enough for them to want to leave with you. No you were not wrong.

If they know you were a recovering addict, they shouldn't of had you go there. They should respect you and obviously they don't. Forget about them. If all they want to do is do coke and party then you can find other people. Sure it is okay to have fun and party but without the drugs is better. :]

I don't think you were disrespectful at all. Sometimes being the Designated driver can be a real chore.

I dont know, its kind of both. but i think you're mostly right. If you wanted to go and still waited for a while, and they still didnt go, then they are disrespectful
