I was from Mi I use to have the accent. But now I'm in Texas. But I do know what your sayin. I took me over two years to say soda instead of pop. My accent still slips out now and then on some words. But every state has some sorta of an accent. So keep talkin that way.

I've lived in Michigan all my life and my family and I don't talk that way. We say "to", "hundred", "city", "use to", etc. Although, we do say "pop", but that isn't an accent.

"Pop" seems to be the proper word, anyway. "Soda" is an adjective. Calling "soda pop" "soda" is the same as calling "motor oil" "motor". Who calls the oil you put in your car "motor"? "I have to change the motor in my car" has a whole different meaning, doesn't it?
