It would depend on your application. (new, retrofit, remodel) There are many types of forced air heating units (electric, natural gas, oil, earth coupled heatpump...) as well as other types of heating equipment. ( boilers, radiant floor, electric baseboard, etc..) The next question would be the cost to use this equipment (energy costwise).

Electric would be cheaper to install. You just install them along the base board. You do have 220 wiring to run to each room, but you can get the baseboard units with thermostats right on them so that you can regulate the heat to each room. If you live in a real fridged area forced hot air will be cheaper to operate, so in the long run that is cheaper. If I lived along the warmer parts of the country I would go with electric. It really all depends on your weather conditions. If you live in Northern Minnesota by all means go with forced hot air. If you live along the coast in Oregon go with electric.
