You should read into Emile Durkheim's theory about the collective consciousness and how it relates to sucide. Here is just as taste. Durkheim says people commit suicide for four reasons.

1. Anomic suicide - occurs when people do not know what to do with themselves when they are not highly regulated by society. This type might take place after a big change the fall of a country's government, such as in Iraq where people would feel more comfort under a abusive dictatorship and having very little struture and security to regulate their lives.

2. Egoistic sucide occurs when individuals feel their life has no meaning and they feel it is morally acceptable to commit suicide. These people do not think suicide is wrong or a sin, however you want to put it. They may even think that killing themselves would make the whole world a better place.

3. Altruist sucide occurs when people are highly influenced or even forced by a group to commit suicide. This is what is going on with many religious suicides. This is probably what leads to most of the "In the Name of Islam" sucides you are referring to, but in no way are the people who practice Islam the only one's doning it.
4. Fatalistic suicide occurs when people are too highly regulated by society that they see it as their only, such as would be if a person we a slave and killed herself or if a POW subject to agressive methods of interrogation would commit the act.

It's really interesting stuff to read about if you are truly interested in understanding why people who have been raised in different circumstances and with different values behave the way they do. Instead of labeling people evil and causing more disagreemetn, it would be more benificial to the world to understand intent and the meaning behind their actions, and go from them to make our world less tragic.

If you are interested in Durkheim, check out a book in Social Theory by Ritzer, he writes textbooks and doesn't get too technical. Trust me - building your own understanding is much more valuable than blindly repeating the popular sentiments of those around you.

Take care.

because haumans and the global awareness are at a crux point similar to the scene that Martin Luther described as a saturation point where the church and the secular state are equally powered and each searching to expand it's influence by pressuring the ignorant and the poor to join ranks and overpower the other. The world's powers won't accept a ground of neutrality and give people room to move and grow and so we have endless war. I see the world's defences as in tack. We, collectivly, have the capacity to warn and, or, destroy any incoming intelligence as shown by america's ability to hit any object in the solar system accuratly with anything we've got on hand. On the other hand, SETI says there's nothing out there anyway so we really have nothing to fear. I think we need to embark on understanding each other and find ways to get along or we're in for greater trouble.

This question contains multiple assumptions which may not be correct. Sorry. If you could word your question in a less biased way, maybe it would be worth answering. As it is, it sounds as if you are trying to bash Muslims.
